We love our playdates to the park, the children's museum, the library, you name it...
Here, Josie, Evelyn, their friend Lizzy and of course the babies and their momma's fed some hungry ducks. And they chased a few of those hungry ducks too...

Ring Day and Dunk
Kevin's parents came down for his big day.
Kevin had his parents present his ring to him since they paid for it. As soon as his Mom opened the box though, Evelyn grabbed the ring and then placed it in her Daddy's hands. The girl loves jewelry! I don't think we could have planned the ring presentation any better if we tried.
This is one of the best pictures we could get on the bridge as a family. Notice Josie's hand. She learned the reason you should not rub your hand across wooden beams on a bridge. The rest of the pictures after this Josie stared down at her hand and cried because of that tiny splinter.
We celebrated the next day with a little ring dunk party and had such a great time. It was definitely different than my ring dunk party from college, but I think the presence of all the kids made the day that much more special!
And of course there were some big kids there too. :)
Some more big kids...
And he dunked the ring like a pro. I was quite impressed.
Gig 'em!

Yardwork is Hard on your Knees
In case you are wondering what you might look like if you spent all afternoon working in the yard with your Mom and instead of using your feet to get around, you crawled...

Food Pyramid
We really try to teach the girls about nutrition and eating healthy. For example, tonight Josie told me the following...
"Tomorrow, we are going to have a ballerina day. You have to wear shoes like this and dance around. It is really hard to do so you have to eat a lot of good and healthy stuff tonight like okra and tacos."

Lenten Lessons
We try to make Stations of the Cross a regular event during Lent for our family. This was the first year that Josie really understood everything and boy was the first Stations interesting. The girl had so many questions/comments...
Why are those men being so mean to Jesus?
Why did he fall down so much?
I bet his Mother was very sad.
What is a tomb?
(and after learning what a tomb is) Oooh, I would not want to go in there.
All of those questions (and more) came just during the actual service. On the way home, our discussion continued. The biggest question/concern she had was why? Why were those men mean to Jesus? Why did he have to carry the cross? Why did Jesus have to die? So, I told her that we all make bad choices and Jesus loves us all so much that he wanted to make our bad choices go away and forgive us. And to do that, Jesus had to be crucified on the cross. Her response to that and this is what I love about children - so insightful, so honest. She says to me, "well, then why aren't we up on that cross instead of Jesus?"
Amen Josie, Amen.

Potty Training Success Story?
Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity. ~ George Patton
A funny story that I forgot to share from the most recent West Texas trip. We came in from playing outside and Evelyn had a wet pull-up. After she went potty, I put a pair of big girl panties on her because I knew we were gonna be bathing them right after dinner. When I put the panties on her I said, "Now Evelyn, do NOT poop in these panties."
We then eat dinner, the girls start to play and as we are cleaning off the table, I see Evelyn run by me with no pants or panties on. Knowing this is the girl that wants to change her pants as soon as they get wet, I immediately knew (or at least thought I knew) what happened. I went and swooped her up and she confirmed that she did poop. I see Isabelle innocently crawling around on the floor so I then tell my Mom, "Go find the poop before Isabelle does...I'm going to go wipe this girl's bottom!"
As I'm cleaning up Evelyn, she says to me with a big smile on her face, "I didn't poop in my panties." She was so proud of herself. I was of course confused until Mom told me that Evelyn had in fact taken off the pants and panties and pooped on the floor in the toy closet. And I thought back, I didn't tell her to poop in the toilet - I just told her to not poop in the panties. So, what do you think? A potty training success story?

Josie says...
Mom: When we get home, we are going to take a nap.
Josie: I'm not tired Mom. See, look at my tummy.
Josie: What are our neighbors going to do with their house now that they moved?
Mom: Well, they bought a new house and a man by the name of Mr. Long has bought their old house and has already moved in. We need to meet him. He is our new neighbor.
Josie: (as we pull into our driveway). Look, Mr. Short is home. We can go meet him.
Dad: Josie, that is disgusting. When are you going to quit picking your nose?
Josie: On Tuesday.
