Happy Halloween

Evelyn dressed up as a fairy princess (although she did not have wings) and Josie as Belle.


We did not decide on our costumes until right before it was time to go trick or treating. Thanks to Kevin's cousin, Rheanne, we have a plethora of princess and dress up outfits. So, we just went 'shopping' around 5 that afternoon and came up with our costumes.

Really? A paci now?

Evelyn never took a paci as a baby. Never! But now at almost 2, she thinks its funny to try one out. Silly girl!

What stain?

We went to Chick-Fil-A today and Josie had a little trouble with her ketchup. At one point she leaned over to grab something off my plate and literally laid her stomach in her ketchup pile and then there were the numerous drips and oops. But what I loved is it did not phase her one bit. She played and just giggled about her messy shirt. We could learn something from that for sure.

Lunchtime Nap

Evelyn has never been our good sleeper. The girl has a really hard time shutting down. However, we have found that once she does slow down for a few seconds, she will often fall fast asleep. Regardless, this Evelyn nap took me by surprise. I had my back turned from the table because I actually had a sitter over because I was needing to get some work done. The sitter was playing with Isabelle on the floor and I was just turning around every now and then checking on the girl's to make sure they were eating. After about the third time of turning around and seeing Evelyn in this position (the first few times, I thought she was just being silly), I decided to investigate. She fell asleep in this position. Poor girl.

I love how the minute Isabelle makes any noise in the morning, Josie and Evelyn first run to tell me "Isabelle's awake" and then they both run into her room to tell her good morning and give her the first of many hugs and kisses for the day. This is how Evelyn was keeping Isabelle happy this morning. Sisterly love!

Notice the very sturdy rocking chair stool Evelyn is using.

She even offered her some morning coffee from her teapot.

Evelyn made sure Isabelle had plenty of stuffed animals to keep her company.

What do you do when your family has drug you all over town all day and you are only 5 months old? You get in your jumper and you jump to your little heart's content and then fall asleep. Sweet Isabelle...so sweet Isabelle.

A little bit more teaching to do

Josie and her Daddy have some really great conversations at night when they are laying in bed before bedtime. Kevin was just telling me how he really enjoys these talks and feels like Josie really listens to him. I could tell today when we were in the car that she was sharing with me a little bit of what she learned last night in her talk with Daddy...

Josie: Some people know God and some people don't know God.
Mom: Yes, that is very true.
Josie: And some strangers know God and some strangers don't know him.
Mom: Yes
Josie: So that's why some strangers are nice and some strangers are not nice.
Mom: Yes, that is also very true.

Mom: Josie, what is a stranger?
Josie: Ummm, I don't know. You'll have to ask Daddy.
