Arranged Marriage

Its scary when my friend Meghan and I begin planning. We do things like go the Waco Zoo and give our children diseases. But we also do a lot of fun things too....really too many to list. One of our latest (and greatest, I might add) plans is the arranged marriage of our youngest children. Poor Lane, he is the first boy in the bevy of girls so its only fair that we plan his marriage to one of them. Just to make sure we are documenting each step of their relationship, we have already captured on film their first kiss...

May Birthdays

Double the Scoops! Double the Fun! Josie and Isabelle turned Four and One!

We celebrated Josie and Isabelle's birthdays in June this year with an ice cream party!

We had ice cream cone cake pops. The kids loved them and they were not near as messy as an actual ice cream cone.

Isabelle ate what she could and crumbled up the rest. The girl loves chocolate!

Josie had plenty of help opening presents.

As requested, we had a pony "empanada" (that's pinata for those of you who don't speak Josie).

Even Isabelle got to take a swing.

The mass rush to get some candy.

The crazy birthday party bunch!

How on earth did this girl get so big? Our sweet 4 year old Josie with Mommy and Daddy on party day. Josie, you are an amazing girl. You have such attention to detail, are very considerate of others and always want to please us. You take excellent care of your sisters and your Mommy and Daddy. I love you!

Isabelle - our one year old going on five. You think you can do anything your sisters do and will often try it, which usually leads to you screaming in anger or hurting yourself. Isabelle, you are a ham! You have such personality and love to wrestle with your sisters. Poor girls can't sit on the floor without you tackling them. You have such heart and are really talking more and more each day. We love you!

Mommy's Little Helper

Everyday I go into Isabelle's room to nurse her before her afternoon nap. When I do this, I usually start a movie for Josie and Evelyn and then I lock Isabelle's door so that we are not disturbed. So now, you have the background to the story, let me tell you about today. Picture it, Isabelle is almost asleep and this is what I hear:

Josie: (in a very stern motherly voice) There is poop on your panties! That is yucky!
Evelyn: I no poop on my panties. I poop on potty.
Josie: No, look at this. I have to wash these.

I then hear water running in the bathroom and at the same time, Evelyn begins trying to open Isabelle's locked door all the while making lots of noise as she is putting her whole body into it pressing her mouth up against the door saying, Mooooom, I got a surprise for you. I use the same technique I always use when I want Isabelle to fall asleep and they are beating on the door...I simply don't answer. It works. Evelyn gives up and runs off. The banter continues...

Josie: Here you go Evelyn, I washed these out for you. They are all clean. You can put your panties back on now.

I can only assume Josie has handed Evelyn a dripping wet albeit clean pair of panties and wants her to put them on. But then...

Josie: Oh wait, Evelyn. You still have poop on you. Bend over so I can wipe your bottom. Here you go Evelyn. We have to get all the poop off of you. Poop is yucky. There...that's better. You are all clean.

I'm pretty sure Josie has a tape recorder because she was able to pretty much imitate me word for word. Either that or I say this all much too often.

I decide that although Isabelle is not asleep (somehow she woke up through all this), I better go see what is going on. I come out of the room a little afraid of where all I might find poop and a little proud of my Josie for being such a big helper.

70!!!

My Mom turns 70 today. I can't believe she is 70. She works circles around me as if I am the 70 year old. She has taught me so much about life, given me so much of her time and love and she still keeps on giving. I know that is what a Mommy does, but I feel especially blessed in the Mom department. If my girls feel about me when I am 70 the way I feel about my Mom, I will know then I have done a good job. Happy Birthday Mom! You are the glue that holds our family together!
