A trip to the Farm through time

We went to Wall for spring break. I'll post more about that later (including pics), but had to share this walk through time. I visited Wall almost a year ago at this same time (March) so here are the girls with Grandma and Popo in 2009 and 2010.

Thank you Meghan!

Our dear friend Meghan made us these adorable dresses and it finally got warm enough so we could wear them. I just had to share how cute the girls looked. Thank you Meghan!!!

San Antonio Zoo

As I mentioned earlier, we spent a few days at the end of February visiting my sister in San Antonio. While we were there, Kevin was sweet to take us to the zoo one morning. It was funny - we had driven by the zoo several times for the previous two days during our stay (Kevin's meeting was by the zoo) and not a soul was there. The zoo parking lot was completely empty. On the morning we went, it must have been National Zoo Day - there were buses, cars, vans, families, strollers - everybody was there. We went ahead, braved the crowds and had a great time. We spent just a few hours there, which was perfect for our girls. We then had lunch at Joseph's Bakery or Deli or something like that, which was super yummy! I highly recommend it if you take a trip to the San Antonio Zoo.

These were just too cute not to share. We had the opportunity to keep Maci a few weeks ago and I finally got the pictures off of the camera. Here are those cuties...rub a dub dub.

Bryce's Visit

During the first week of March, we had a special visitor at our house. My good friend, Bryce, came to see us for the Coalition for Life Banquet and just for a visit. I had such a great time. Bryce can make me laugh like no other and I spent several days after his visit just smiling and laughing as I thought of stories and the little jokes we shared while he was here.

One of the best laughs was from the girl's state basketball tournament. Bryce went with us on Friday and he bought a program for the game. Kevin and I of course did not buy one because they were like 4 bucks each. But we sure did use Bryce's program during the game. And most of my other family members sitting around us also used it too. Even some Wall folks we didn't know who were sitting next to us used it. So about halfway through the game, I tell Bryce, "Thank Goodness you bought that program...everybody is using it." His response was (and this is why I love him), "Well, I knew you Gerngross's were too cheap to buy one." And boy was he right. We brought it back on Saturday and again, that program was well used.

So thank you Bryce for the program and for the visit. We LOVED it. Josie wants to know when you are coming back.

This one's for you Beth

Quote from Josie this morning...

"Aunt Beth gave me all the toys I need. She gave me this, as she is holding and playing her Barney guitar, and she gave me my car."

Mom replies, "And those are all the toys you need? You don't need anything else?"

Josie says, "And Aunt Beth"

State Tournament 2010

Our family with the rest of the entire Wall community, including many folks, like ourselves, who have left the area, journeyed to Austin, Texas this past weekend for the 2010 Girls State Basketball tournament. The Wall Lady Hawks played Poth on Friday and won and then faced Brock for the final game on Saturday. It was a well played and well fought game, but Brock came out on top on Saturday. Regardless, I am very proud of how the girls played. In particular, I am especially proud of my niece, Nikki, who is a junior on the team. She is so much fun to watch and such an athlete. It was a great weekend with family and friends and more importantly, we watched some great basketball! Thanks Nikki and the rest of the team! What an awesome experience for you and the rest of us.

After the Friday game, Nikki made the sports page in the San Antonio paper...

And after Saturday's game, Nikki made the sports page again in the Austin paper...

Here are the links and images from the newspapers. We love you Nikki!

Poth's state-title hopes hit Wall

AUSTIN — Twenty minutes after Poth's state-championship hopes had come to an end Friday, senior Erica Moczygemba sat in a media room inside the Erwin Center and laughed.

“To go down this bad, lose by this much — you have to laugh about that,” she said.

There were tears, too, in the moments following Wall's 56-32 victory in the Class 2A state semifinals, but those had already come and gone.......
